Welding Engineer (Santej)

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ) in accordance with ASME Section IX.
• Provide technical support to production for pressure vessels, heat exchangers, reactors, columns, and piping fabrication.
• Resolve welding-related production issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with ASME Section VIII, customer specifications, and applicable welding standards.
• Review fabrication drawings, welding symbols, material specifications, and ITPs.
• Monitor welding parameters, consumables, preheat, interpass temperature, and PWHT requirements.
• Coordinate with QA/QC, Production, Design, Purchase, NDT, and Project departments.
• Plan and supervise welder qualification and training activities.
• Participate in customer inspections, third-party inspections, and certification audits.
• Maintain welding documentation, traceability records, repair records, and technical reports.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce weld rejection and improve productivity.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Welding Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in heavy fabrication or pressure vessel manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of ASME Section IX and ASME Section VIII.
• Hands-on experience in WPS, PQR, WPQ preparation and implementation.
• Good understanding of welding processes such as GTAW, SMAW, SAW, FCAW, and GMAW.
• Knowledge of welding metallurgy, NDT methods, PWHT, and fabrication practices.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and welding symbols.
• Good communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
