Job Summary:
The Director – QA/QC will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all quality assurance and quality control systems to ensure compliance with national and international food safety standards. The role involves ensuring product safety, regulatory compliance, export certifications, and continuous quality improvement across processing, packaging, storage, and dispatch of spices and pulses.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Management & Compliance
Develop and implement QA/QC policies aligned with FSSAI, ISO 22000, HACCP, BRC, US FDA, EU, and other export regulation
Ensure compliance with import country requirements for spices and pulses
Oversee internal and external audits, certifications, and customer inspections
Maintain documentation, SOPs, traceability records, and compliance reports
2. Product Quality & Food Safety
Monitor quality parameters of raw materials, in-process goods, and finished products
Implement food safety controls for microbiological, chemical, pesticide residue, aflatoxin, and adulteration risks
Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
Ensure hygiene, sanitation, and GMP/GHP compliance across the plant
3. Export & Regulatory Affairs
Coordinate export-related quality documentation and certifications
Liaise with APEDA, Spices Board, Export Inspection Agency (EIA), and other regulatory bodies
Ensure compliance with international buyer specifications and contractual quality requirements
4. Team Leadership & Training
Lead, mentor, and develop the QA/QC team
Conduct training programs on food safety, quality standards, and regulatory updates
Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement
5. Supplier & Vendor Quality Management
Approve and audit raw material suppliers and third-party service providers
Ensure supplier compliance with quality and food safety standards
Monitor incoming material quality and corrective actions
Continuous Improvement & Risk Management
Implement process improvements to reduce rejections, complaints, and recalls
Monitor customer feedback and address quality-related issues proactively
Stay updated on global food safety trends and regulatory changes
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, or related field
Certifications in HACCP, ISO 22000, BRC, FSSC 22000 preferred
Strong knowledge of spices and pulses processing, cleaning, grading, milling, packaging
Hands-on experience with export markets (USA, EU, Middle East, etc.)
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in quality documentation, audits, and regulatory compliance
